Quarterly update – BrightMinded in Lockdown

When lockdown was announced, we at BrightMinded expected to be twiddling our thumbs waiting for our next project to come through. However, we have been very fortunate to be inundated with work!

Monthly calendars of 2020

We’ve continued taking on challenges and learning as much as we can. And since we have done all of this from home rather than our lovely office at The Dock Hub, we’ve got to know Google Meet very well.

So, we would like to introduce you to our new series: Quarterly Updates from BrightMinded! This will be a blog written every few months to provide an update on what we’ve been up to – some of the projects we’ve been working on, the blogs we’ve written, collaborations we’ve done, the works. We hope this will provide a better insight into how we work, what our clients are up to, and maybe inspire you in some way or another too.
Here is our first instalment: BrightMinded in Lockdown.

Covid directory Brighton & Hove

The global pandemic has created an array of problems in the everyday life of many. While we can’t solve all of them, we do want to assist where we can. In light of this, we helped create a COVID 19 directory for Community Works and the Trust For Developing Communities. Essentially, this is a directory for anyone in Brighton & Hove to find help coping with everyday issues, such as loneliness, picking up prescriptions, shopping, or finding advice about money and benefits. It can also be used on behalf of someone else and is available in eight different languages.

If you or anyone you know in the Brighton & Hove area, you can find the directory here.

Liberty Charge new website

We recently worked with Liberty Charge to build their new website. The joint venture between Liberty Global and Zouk (the fund manager for the UK Treasury’s Charging Infrastructure Investment Fund) aims to provide cost effective chargers for electric vehicles across the country to encourage more people to drive electric vehicles. They work on a triple bottom line approach, prioritising the environment, their employees, and their community. We hope their new website will help promote their message!

Evidence gap map for Itad

Itad came to us with a fascinating request. As part of a consortium they wanted to implement an evidence gap map to help monitor the UK’s DFID Women’s Integrated Sexual Health (WISH) programme. Under the WISH programme, data has been collected about ‘what works’ when enabling access to sexual reproductive health services for people with disabilities in low to middle-income countries. They had noticed that people with disabilities had historically been denied their sexual and reproductive health rights.

We are proud to have had a chance to work with Itad on this visualisation tool with such a positive goal. We urge you to have a look at it here.

Sam’s piece in Computer Weekly

Recently, Sam wrote a piece on Continuous Testing which was featured on Computer Weekly’s website. The piece discusses the importance of testing and how we can maximise our technology to help keep us protected from bugs. You can find the piece on our website here, and on the Computer Weekly website here.

Special thanks to Adrian Bridgewater for working so closely with us on this specific collaboration.

British Psychoanalytic Council website update

Everyone on the team has been helping the British Psychoanalytic Council update their website over the last few months. They wanted to create a more professional and contemporary online presence that better represented the impact they have and the nature of their community. So, we got to work building a website to reflect this. It’s now live here.

Sedex domain switch

Our client, Sedex, asked us to help them with a domain switch from sedexglobal.com to sedex.com. This was a task that needed careful execution, since we wanted to make sure the switch of their global site was as smooth as possible and, most importantly, that their search rankings weren’t lost in the process.

You can find Sedex at their new domain sedex.com now.

For now, that’s all we’ve got for you. But don’t worry – we’ll be back in a couple of months with another update. Until then, stay safe and take care!
